Hey, first off I'm really excited to have found this game, it reminds me of a PBM game i used to play by snailmail called avalon. It was from a company in Holland at the time. Anyho, I really enjoyed it a lot and I would like to join a game of Gondor, so I signed up for one of the games to start soon (deadline 19th feb) but seems there's only 4 players signed up until now, what gives? Also, what are all the games you're discussing in this board, game 072 and so on. Sry if I ask stupid questions, I'm a bit lazy but also excited!

Hello Panamon, right now game 72 is rolling.  There are a few games starting, I suggest you sign up for game 76 (once a week) and/or a newbie game (games new052/054/057) where a veteran is waiting to teach you the ropes.  Newbie games are 1 vs 1.

I am in game 75, which is three times a week.  This goes very fast, but I can help there.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hey Dragon, thanks for the quick reply, I'll look at those options. What's the life sucks foundation? So is Gondor actually based on an old PBM game that used to be played by oldfashioned mail? If i rember right the company was called PBM Express and the game they offered (Avalon) was a modified version of some english game. It was a big map with 100 players, that's why i was confused with the 1-on-1 games offered here. Cheers!

Hey Pananom,

I still remember you vaguely from Avalon. I have played this game as well, avalaon 4, 6 and 7, under the name Gareth. Gondor is much alike Avalon, you'll enjoy it!!

Yes, I have delayed it, you should receive a message by email soon.  We need at least another player to make it enjoyable.  And it will give me time to watch more olympics!  We only have 7 medals so far.... those dutch skaters keep us canadians from getting more medals! Wink

Yup, that's right. I visited you in 1994 maybe? something like that.. So anyway, the good news is i convinced another old avalon player to play this game, maybe maybe even more to come, the bad news is i signed up for game 75 but won't be playing it because it will take too much time in the long run. I will sign up for game 76 weekly game instead, where the other player will sign up as well. Cheers!

Hi Hugo,

Are you the same one who lives / lived in Beek (Limburg) which I've visited once, long time ago (about 20 years ago)?
I know, you were close friends with Patrick, as we are, but do you still see or speak to him from time to time?

Greetzz,

Hey sorry for the late reply, yeah so no that's my cousin, I asked him to join game 76 but he didn't get back to me so I guess he didn't! Damn, it's hard convincing people to join the game.. to think that in the pre-internet days hundreds of people in the netherlands alone paid money to play it by mail hehe.. Anyho, just filled in my orders for turn 1 of game 76, I hope I did allright. From memory I thought in Avalon there was a maximum amount of orders you could give and this was always a difficult part because you had to leave out some orders to get others in. Seems like in this game you can give as many as you want!
